Children have always had a great impact on Maria Trumpp's life. It started many years ago when Maria was a young mother, and met a woman in Japan who had given birth to a Down Syndrome child. She was looking for a pediatric physio, and as a result, Maria decided to train in Neurodevelopment Training. Within a few months of treating her with NDT the baby, whose doctors had lost hope due to her weak heart condition, had learnt to crawl around and explore her environment for the first time. Today she is 25 years old, happy and healthy.

Pediatric physiotherapist, Maria Trumpp, has spent the last 25 years working with children who have a range of problems, from motor development delay and learning difficulties to ADHD, ADD, cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome.

Maria has trained extensively across a range of disciplines, but specializes in the assessment and treatment of children with sensory processing disorders. She believes the foundation for complex learning and behaviour comes from the ability to process information from our bodies and the environment. Children with sensory processing disorders are unable to do this, and as a result can show a range of behaviours including: high energy, low energy, tactical defensiveness or under-reaction, and poor body awareness. If left untreated this can lead to clumsiness, coordination issues, lack of organization, behavioural issues, learning problems and low self esteem.

Maria is also trained in mind body medicine - with an understanding of the impact our emotional and mental health has on our physical wellbeing. She is an advanced practitioner in NLP (Neurolinguistic Training) and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique).

With a truly global backround, Maria speaks English and German as well as some French and Japanese. In Hong Kong she has held the position of Senior Physiotherapist at the Sarah Roe School, and while in Germany she worked at a pediatric interdisciplinary therapy centre where she treated babies with motor developmental delay and children with learning problems.
